Hitnet community members nominated at the IDX Awards!

We're thrilled to announce that two women from the Hitnet community are nominated at the inaugural Indigenous Digital Excellence Awards!

Nickeema Williams, our Community Connector has been nominated for the IDX Young Innovator of the Year Award for her work with Hitnet and the Red Cross, where she works with communities to help them capture their stories and present them through various media an artistry. Nickeema was also instrumental in getting a Hitnet Hub installed in her community of Woorabinda, which has become one of our most popular Hubs.

Patricia Elarde has been nominated for the IDX Digital Elder of the Year Award for her work as the Torres Strait Islander Program Manager at Diabetes Queensland. She has worked closely with Hitnet over the past two years to develop 'The Diabetes Story' interactive module and web app to promote health and wellbeing messages for Indigenous Australians and their families affected by diabetes.

The awards take place in Sydney on Friday the 29th September, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for the results! We wish both of these wonderful women luck at the event.
